Mohenjo Daro and Rustom clash at box office today !!! Who Wins?

It’s the clash of two big titans at the box-office today as Hrithik Roshan’s period drama, Mohenjo Daro and Akshay Kumar’s thriller, Rustom takes on. And with both movies being backed by big names, it will be a head-to-head fight in the game of numbers this weekend. Let’s take a look at how they have fared in different aspects till a day before their release.

Marketing:
Rustom has undoubtedly stolen a march ahead of Mohenjo Daro owing to its smart marketing strategy. Akshay’s masterstroke in getting fellow Bollywood actors to shoot and post videos to make Rustom trending has undoubtedly set the tone right for the film. Mohenjo Daro, on the other hand, has found sparse takers among the Bollywood fraternity with almost everyone reserving their love for Rustom. Strange since actors had promoted Hrithik’s Bang Bang with great fervour. Wonder if this is the Kangana effect.
Trailer:
Rustom again emerged as the winner here with Akshay’s navy uniform laced patriotic act receiving a huge thumbs up. Mohenjo Daro received lukewarm to negative reactions with many criticising the costumes used in the period drama.

Music:
While Rustom doesn’t exactly boast of great music, one could say owing to A R Rahman the scores in the period film were slightly better. However, this isn’t clearly one of Rahman’s best ever tunes.
Plot:
Rustom has a predictable plot that is loosely based on the famous Nanavati case of the 60s. Mohenjo Daro professes to tell a love tale in an era that has never been showcased before in Bollywood. If intrigue is king, Daro has an upper hand here.
Superstars:
Fresh after his back-to-back success(Airlift, Housefull 3), Akshay would be looking to consolidate his position with this Independence Day release. Hrithik, on the other hand, is returning to silver screen after facing some tumultuous time in his personal life courtesy Kangana Ranaut and would be eager to make amends with a blockbuster hit. Going sheerly by their star power, both films should have equal footfalls.
Screen numbers:
This is what will dictate the profit margin. Rustom seems to have found favour among multiplexes while Mohenjo Daro has pulled in single screen theatres into its fold. However, the ultimate difference in screen numbers is not big which means both films have a fair chance of making their cut at the box-office.
Audience:
It will be a happy weekend for viewers will get to see two diametrically different films and two macho superstars in different avatars.

Blow to Kejriwal: What Kejriwal will do after this jugement: Lieutenant Governor need not listen to Delhi cabinet, says Delhi High Court

  1. Delhi HC confirmed that the LG is the administrative head of the National Capital Territory.
  2. The LG is not bound to act on the advice of the Delhi cabinet, the court said.
  3. AAP has been fighting a series of escalating battles with the LG and Centre for control over the Delhi government

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor is not required to act on the advice of the Delhi cabinet. This comes as a blow Arvind Kejriwal's bid to corner more executive powers into the Delhi CM's office. The Delhi government has said it would appeal against the Delhi HC ruling in the Supreme Court.
The Delhi HC dismissed a batch of petitions by the AAP, that challenged the powers of the Lieutenant Governor (LG). Kejriwal and his party have been railing against the reading of Constitutional provisions that make the LG the administrative head of a Union Territory.
Kejriwal has been insisting+ that executive power rests in the office of the Delhi Chief Minister and that the LG is obligated to act on the advice that is given to him/her by the Delhi cabinet.
"The Lieutenant Governor is the administrative head of the National Capital Territory," the Delhi HC declared in its decision on Thursday. "The AAP government's contention that the LG is bound to act on advice of the council of ministers is without any substance and cannot be accepted," the HC added.
The AAP had filed a total of nine petitions in the Delhi HC, contending that the power to make appointments and issue instructions did not rest with the LG, but with the Delhi CM. The petitions had risen out of a series of clashes between LG Najeeb Jung and the Delhi government.
The Delhi government had argued that in a democratic set up there cannot be two reporting authorities. The Centre however had contended that as a Union Territory, Delhi was not a full-fledged state, and that control over its government rests in the hands of the Union Home Ministry.
Top Comment

No surprises for guessing, Kejriwal will now come out and rant, "High Court is on Modi''s payroll". This man has least respect for constitution and he is an eptiome of anarchist.
Indian

The AAP government on May 28 last year had moved the Delhi HC in response to the Centre's decision to take the issue to the Supreme Court. The Centre had challenged a Delhi HC ruling that termed as "suspect" the Home Ministry's notification to the Anti-Corruption Branch not to act against its officers in certain cases.

Now Pakistan Shut its mouth : UN snubs Pak, says won’t interfere on Kashmir

Pakistan was left red-faced Tuesday when its latest efforts seeking UN intervention on Kashmir failed to draw a new response from the world body, which reiterated that India and Pakistan need to resolve their differences through dialogue.
Sartaj Aziz, adviser to Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on national security and foreign affairs, had written to UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon on the recent border tension with India and sought the UN’s intervention, stepping up its attempts to internationalise the Kashmir issue.
Ban’s deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq, when asked to comment on Ban’s viewpoint on the letter, referred to a statement made last week where the UN chief encouraged India and Pakistan to resolve all differences through dialogue to find a long-term solution for peace and stability in Kashmir.
The BJP hailed the UN’s snub to Pakistan as a diplomatic triumph for the Narendra Modi government. “Yet again the UN has snubbed Pakistan and has rejected its request. This shows that Pakistan has been yet again cornered in the international forum,” BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters. “If Pakistan believes and wishes in peace, then it has to shun terrorism, it has to shun ceasefire violations and infiltration,” he added.
New Delhi, meanwhile, said it was willing to have a “serious dialogue” with Pakistan but questioned Islamabad’s sincerity.
“It seems, from what Pakistan is doing it is not interested in (bilateral) dialogue… the sending of a letter to the UN secretary general by Pakistan is a well-known tactic and it has not worked earlier and it will not work now. The road to a peaceful and cooperative relationship between India and Pakistan runs from Islamabad via Lahore to New Delhi. If you divert that road through New York or elsewhere, it will not serve any purpose... and will be diversionary tactics,” said external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.
He reiterated India’s stand that only Shimla Agreement and Lahore Declaration provided the framework to resolve India-Pak issues and there was no role for a third party.
The UN has an observer group in India and Pakistan to monitor ceasefire violations, which have escalated in the past few weeks and claimed nearly 20 lives. India has however always maintained that the observer group has “outlived its relevance” and has “no role to play whatsoever” on the issue.

Crash of the year: When Asli crashes into Nakli : Again copy

While Land Rover hasn’t yet successfully sued Chinese automaker’s Land Wind for copying the Evoque’s design, some Evoque owner in China seems to have gotten the first shot at revenge. Well, a Range Rover Evoque just crashed into its lookalike, the Land Wind X7. The crash left both cars partially damaged. The incident happened in the Chinese city of Chongqing and no injuries were reported. This accident gives us perspective about how similar the Land Wind X7 looks when compared with the Range Rover Evoque. Here take a look for yourself.

Meanwhile, here are some interesting facts about the SUVs:

  1. Tata Motors owned Jaguar-Land Rover is suing Land Wind for copying the Evoque’s design. However, a Beijing court has held patents of both Land Rover and Land Wind as illegal. Jaguar-Land Rover has said that it’ll appeal this decision.
  2. The Land Wind X7 is outselling the Range Rover Evoque in China. Why? It’s priced at one third the price of the Evoque (448,000 yuan [$68,000]), at 129,000 yuan ($19,600).
  3. The Land Wind X7 is longer (4,420 mm vs 4,365 mm), wider (mm vs mm) lighter (1,775 Kgs vs 1,850 Kgs) and has a larger wheelbase ( 2,670 mm vs 2,660 mm) than the Evoque, but is slightly shorter (1,910 mm vs 1,900 mm).
  4. The X7 uses a 2 liter turbo petrol engine (190 Bhp-250 Nm) from Mitsubishi while the Evoque uses a similar motor from Ford but with more power and torque (240 Bhp-340 Nm). The X7 has an 8 speed automatic gearbox while the Evoque has a 9 speed automatic.
  5. Land Rover was previously owned by Ford, who is also a joint venture partner of Land Wind’s Chinese joint owners, Jiangling Motors and Chang’an Motors.

Nainital, India: Leopard Breaks Into Hotel Room and Surprises Sleeping Honeymooners

A couple from Meerut vacationing in the sylvan surroundings of Nainital got the shock of their lives when they found a leopard pacing about their room early in the morning.

The big cat smashed the window pane to get into the room as Mr. Sumit Rathore and his wife Ms. Shivani cowered behind the bed to escape its notice.

As the animal leisurely walked into the washroom, Mr. Sumit plucked some courage and bolted the door from outside and locked in the big cat and raised an alarm, Ranger Pramod Tiwari said.

A forest department team arrived with a cage and tranquiliser gun to trap the leopard but it jumped out of the washroom ventilator and vanished in the nearby forest, he said.

Apparently, the one-and-half-year-old leopard had sought refuge in the hotel room after being chased by wild dogs, the ranger said.

The hotel where the incident took place is located in Tallital area.

NDTV claimed they sold dreams. IT said: No. It is a sham transaction, slaps ₹525 cr fine . Its should recover from Barkha and other anti nationlist TV reportes

India’s Income Tax Department (ITD) has slapped a fine of Rs.525 crores on New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV) for fooling, concealing more than Rs.642 crore income earned through sham transactions in 2008. When caught for the unexplained money of how more than Rs.642 crores reached its kitty via Bermuda, NDTV claimed that they “sold a dream”. This curious answer was given to the ITD by NDTV by claiming that this unexplained money was through some inflated share transfer and dividend from a tax haven based firm.
18.1 It is pertinent to note that all agreements, whether pertaining to alleged subscription of stake by USBV in NNIH or alleged buyback by NDTV Networks BV, are invariably signed by NDTV itself.

The 14 page Income Tax notice was served to NDTV was on June 15, 2016. Till date it has not replied to the ITD. According to tax sleuths, NDTV staffers are saying that their head Prannoy Roy is unwell or staying at his mansion rejuvenating in South Africa etc. The Income Tax notice puncturing NDTV’s tax fraud is published at the end of this article.

The notice also shows an email trail between an auditor Vivek Mehra of Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) and Prannoy Roy on how to conceal this income. The emails are dated on or around 21st May 2008 and in that Vivek Mehra is advising Roy on how not to mention that NDTV is receiving this as a dividend or otherwise. The notice also reproduces seven email communications between Prannoy and others on how to creatively conceal the truth of this transaction. Vikram Chandra was also part of this elaborate scheme as he is listed as the CEO and the only employee in a shell company titled NDTV Networks PLC (NNPLC).

The hidden and unexplained money of Rs.642,54,2200 (150 million US $) was received from NBC Universal Inc and Universal Studios International BV. This money was routed through NDTV Networks International Holdings BV to ostensibly avoid paying income tax. See the graphic below:
Universal Studios investment into NDTV
Income Tax sensed a fraud in 2010 when this transaction was suppressed in the statements submitted to it. That Assessment Year 2009-10 claimed Rs.64 crore loss!

“Assessee’s theory of having sold a “Dream” to the investor has not been substantiated by any credible evidence as no details have been filed whatsoever for the so called business projections and the basis of compulsion of the sale price of the share at the astronomical price of Rs.7015 which is 159 times of its face value of Rs.45. Needless to mention that the subject company whose shares were sold was incurring huge losses and there was hardly any worthy business to justify the above sale price.”

When caught NDTV said that they sold a dream and the dream later went bust, says the Income Tax notice detailing the questionable activities of the TV channel. NDTV boasts of a star studded cast of media personalities such as Prannoy Roy, Barkha Dutt, Vikram Chandra, Nidhi Razdan and Sonia Singh who have been preaching ethics 24X7 to viewers for the past 25 years.

The notice further says that this deal was an active, deliberate and planned concealment and misrepresentation of facts and slapped 200 percent fine leading to Rs.525 crores for concealing the huge money received through Bermuda. The Income Tax directed NDTV to reply by June 22, 2016. Tax sleuths say that NDTV is requesting them for some more time till Prannoy Roy returns from his South African sojourn.

NDTV is already facing a FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) notice of Rs.2030 crores and the matter is before the Adjudication forum of Enforcement Directorate. In Aircel-Maxis case, the Enforcement Directorate in its charge sheet details that NDTV also received around Rs.250 crores from Astro All Asia Networks, a subsidiary of Maxis during the scam period. The 2G Court had already issued a Letter of Rogatory to Britain in this regard.

The Goods and Services Tax Bill or GST Bill (Hindi: वस्तु एवं सेवा कर विधेयक), officially known as The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Second Amendment) Bill, 2014, proposes a national Value added Tax to be implemented in India[1] from June 2016.[2] [3]

"Goods and Services Tax" would be a comprehensive indirect tax on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods and services throughout India, to replace taxes levied by the Central and State governments. Goods and services tax would be levied and collected at each stage of sale or purchase of goods or services based on the input tax credit method. This method allows GST-registered businesses to claim tax credit to the value of GST they paid on purchase of goods or services as part of their normal commercial activity. Taxable goods and services are not distinguished from one another and are taxed at a single rate in a supply chain till the goods or services reach the consumer. Administrative responsibility would generally rest with a single authority to levy tax on goods and services.[4] Exports would be zero-rated and imports would be levied the same taxes as domestic goods and services adhering to the destination principle.

The introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be a significant step in the reform of indirect taxation in India. Amalgamating several Central and State taxes into a single tax would mitigate cascading or double taxation, facilitating a common national market. The simplicity of the tax should lead to easier administration and enforcement. From the consumer point of view, the biggest advantage would be in terms of a reduction in the overall tax burden on goods, which is currently estimated at 25%-30%[5]

What changes there would be if India launches GST-“The tax rate under GST may be nominal or zero rated for the time being. It has been proposed to insulate the revenues of the States from the impact of GST, with the expectation that in due course, GST will be levied on petroleum and petroleum products,”. According to current minister for state for Finance Mr. Jayant Sinha, the government has assured states of compensation for any revenue losses incurred by them from the date of introduction of GST for a period of five years(may be for a period less than 5 years). [6]

As India is a federal republic GST would be implemented concurrently by the central government and by state governments.[7]

History in Parliament and Empowered Committee[edit]
An announcement[citation needed]was made by Palaniappan Chidambaram, the Union Finance Minister, during the central budget of 2006-07 dated 28th February 2006, that GST would be introduced from April 1, 2010 and that the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers, on his request, would work with the Central Government to prepare a road map for introduction of GST in India.

After this announcement, the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers decided to set up a Joint Working Group on May 10, 2007, with the Adviser to the Union Finance Minister and the Member-Secretary of Empowered Committee as co-convenors and the concerned Joint Secretaries of the Department of Revenue of Union Finance Ministry and all Finance Secretaries of the states as its members[citation needed]. The Joint Working Group, after intensive internal discussions as well as interaction with experts and representatives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, submitted its report to the Empowered Committee on November 19, 2007.

This report was then discussed in detail in the meeting of Empowered Committee on November 28, 2007[citation needed]. On the basis of this discussion and the written observations of the states, certain modifications were made, and a final version of the views of Empowered Committee at that stage was prepared and was sent to the Government of India (April 30, 2008). The comments[citation needed] of the Government of India were received on December 12, 2008 and were duly considered by the Empowered Committee (December16, 2008).

Legislative history[edit]
Empowered Committee[edit]
In 2000, the Vajpayee government set up the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers with the aim of facilitating a switch from the existing national-level central excise duty and state-level sales tax model to a value added tax (VAT) model.[8] It was given the task of designing the GST model and overseeing the IT back-end preparedness for its rollout. The committee was headed by Asim Dasgupta, Minister for Finance and Excise of West Bengal.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam pointed out that although the indirect tax policy in India has been steadily progressing in the direction of the value added tax (VAT) principle since 1986, the existing system of taxation of goods and services still suffered from many problems and had suggested a comprehensive goods and services tax (GST) based on the VAT principle. GST system is targeted to be a simple, transparent and efficient system of indirect taxation as has been adopted by over 130 countries around the world. This involves taxation of goods and services in an integrated manner as the blurring of line of demarcation between goods and services has made separate taxation of goods and services untenable.[citation needed]

Frp, 1 April 2005 onwards, a number of states abandoned the sales tax and adopted a state-level VAT.[8]

Salient features of Goods and Service Tax, bill [9][edit]
The salient features about this legislation were first time discussed in its first discussion paper in year 2009. We will reproduce the features discussed here again to understand this act very well.

(i) The GST shall have two components: one levied by the Centre (hereinafter referred to as Central GST), and the other levied by the States (hereinafter referred to as State GST). Rates for Central GST and State GST would be prescribed appropriately, reflecting revenue considerations and acceptability. This dual GST model would be implemented through multiple statutes (one for CGST and SGST statute for every State).

However, the basic features of law such as chargeability, definition of taxable event and taxable person, measure of levy including valuation provisions, basis of classification etc. would be uniform across these statutes as far as practicable.

(ii) The Central GST and the State GST would be applicable to all transactions of goods and services made for a consideration except the exempted goods and services, goods which are outside the purview of GST and the transactions which are below the prescribed threshold limits.

(iii) The Central GST and State GST are to be paid to the accounts of the Centre and the States separately. It would have to be ensured that account-heads for all services and goods would have indication whether it relates to Central GST or State GST (with identification of the State to whom the tax is to be credited).

(iv) Since the Central GST and State GST are to be treated separately, taxes paid against the Central GST shall be allowed to be taken as input tax credit (ITC) for the Central GST and could be utilized only against the payment of Central GST.

(v) Cross utilization of ITC between the Central GST and the State GST would not be allowed except in the case of inter-State supply of goods and services under the IGST model which is explained later.

(vi) Ideally, the problem related to credit accumulation on account of refund of GST should be avoided by both the Centre and the States except in the cases such as exports, purchase of capital goods, input tax at higher rate than output tax etc. where, again refund/adjustment should be completed in a time bound manner.

(vii) To the extent feasible, uniform procedure for collection of both Central GST and State GST would be prescribed in the respective legislation for Central GST and State GST.

(viii) The administration of the Central GST to the Centre and for State GST to the States would be given. This would imply that the Centre and the States would have concurrent jurisdiction for the entire value chain and for all taxpayers on the basis of thresholds for goods and services prescribed for the States and the Centre.

(ix) The present threshold prescribed in different State VAT Acts below which VAT is not applicable varies from State to State. A uniform State GST threshold across States is desirable and, therefore, it is considered that a threshold of gross annual turnover of Rs.10 lakh both for goods and services for all the States and Union Territories may be adopted with adequate compensation for the States (particularly, the States in North-Eastern Region and Special Category States) where lower threshold had prevailed in the VAT regime. Keeping in view the interest of small traders and small scale industries and to avoid dual control, the States also considered that the threshold for Central GST for goods may be kept at Rs.1.5 crore and the threshold for Central GST for services may also be appropriately high. It may be mentioned that even now there is a separate threshold of services (Rs. 10 lakh) and goods (Rs. 1.5 crore) in the Service Tax and CENVAT.

(x) The States are also of the view that Composition/Compounding Scheme for the purpose of GST should have an upper ceiling on gross annual turnover and a floor tax rate with respect to gross annual turnover. In particular, there would be a compounding cut-off at Rs. 50 lakh of gross annual turn over and a floor rate of 0.5% across the States. The scheme would also allow option for GST registration for dealers with turnover below the compounding cut-off.

(xi) The taxpayer would need to submit periodical returns, in common format as far as possible, to both the Central GST authority and to the concerned State GST authorities.

(xii) Each taxpayer would be allotted a PAN-linked taxpayer identification number with a total of 13/15 digits. This would bring the GST PAN-linked system in line with the prevailing PAN-based system for Income tax, facilitating data exchange and taxpayer compliance.

(xiii) Keeping in mind the need of tax payer’s convenience, functions such as assessment, enforcement, scrutiny and audit would be undertaken by the authority which is collecting the tax, with information sharing between the Centre and the States.

National proposals[edit]
A proposal to introduce a national-level Goods and Services Tax (GST) by April 1, 2010 was first mooted in the Budget Speech for the financial year 2006-07. Since the proposal involved reform/ restructuring of not only indirect taxes levied by the Centre but also the States, the responsibility of preparing a Design and Road Map for the implementation of GST was assigned to the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers (EC). In April, 2008, the EC submitted a report, titled "A Model and Roadmap for Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India" containing broad recommendations about the structure and design of GST. In response to the report, the Department of Revenue made some suggestions to be incorporated in the design and structure of proposed GST. Based on inputs from GoI and States, The EC released its First Discussion Paper on Goods and Services Tax in India on the 10th of November, 2009 with the objective of generating a debate and obtaining inputs from all stakeholders.

A dual GST module for the country has been proposed by the EC. This dual GST model has been accepted by centre. Under this model GST have two components viz. the Central GST to be levied and collected by the Centre and the State GST to be levied and collected by the respective States. Central Excise duty, additional excise duty, Service Tax, and additional duty of customs (equivalent to excise), State VAT, entertainment tax, taxes on lotteries, betting and gambling and entry tax (not levied by local bodies) would be subsumed within GST.

In order to take the GST related work further, a Joint Working Group consisting of officers from Central as well as State Government was constituted. This was further trifurcated into three Sub-Working Groups to work separately on draft legislations required for GST, process/forms to be followed in GST regime and IT infrastructure development needed for smooth functioning of proposed GST. In addition, an Empowered Group for development of IT Systems required for Goods and Services Tax regime has been set up under the chairmanship of Dr. Nandan Nilekani.

Parliamentary motions[edit]
A draft of the Constitutional Amendment Bill has been prepared and has been sent to the EC for obtaining views of the State GST, has its salient features for taxes made on goods.

The Goods and Service Tax Bill or GST Bill, officially known as "The Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014", would be a Value added Tax (VAT) to be implemented in India, from April 2016. GST stands for "Goods and Services Tax", and is proposed to be a comprehensive indirect tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level. It will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Indian Central and State governments. It is aimed at being comprehensive for most goods and services.[10][11]

Tax-Rate under the proposed GST[edit]
The tax-rate under the proposed GST would fall, but the number of assesses would increase by 5-6 times.[12] Although rates would come down, tax collection would go up due to increased buoyancy.[13] The government is working on a special IT platform for smooth implementation of the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST). The IT special purpose vehicle (SPV) christened as GST N (Network) will be owned by three stakeholders—the centre, the states and the technology partner NSDL, then Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) Chairman S Dutt Majumdar said while addressing a "National Conference on GST". On the possibility of rolling out GST, he said, "There was no need for alarm if GST was not rolled out in April 1, 2012.[11]

Renewed GST concerns[edit]
With heterogeneous State laws on VAT, the debate on the necessity for a GST has been reignited[14][citation needed]. The best GST systems across the world use a single GST, while India has opted for a dual-GST model. Critics claim that CGST, SGST and IGST are nothing but new names for Central Excise/Service Tax, VAT and CST, and hence GST brings nothing new to the table. The concept of value-added has never been utilised in the levy of service, as the Delhi High Court is attempting to prove in the case of Home Solution Retail, while under Central Excise the focus is on defining and refining the definition of manufacture, instead of focusing on value additions. The Revenue can be very stubborn when it comes to refunds, as the Maharashtra Government proves, and software entities that applied for refunds on excess service tax paid on inputs discovered[citation needed].[11]

The all-new Cenvat Credit Rules, 2014 do little to clarify eligibility for input credits, by using general terms such as "any goods which have no relationship whatsoever with the manufacture of a final product" and "services used primarily for personal use or consumption of any employee"[citation needed].[15]

If women wants to grow in AAP partry then she will move on to the body of the agreement

17- year old girl cuts PENIS of Muslim man during rape attempt; Rapist’s Condition Serious

A 17-year-old Dalit girl bobbitised a man who allegedly attempted to rape her at knifepoint, police said today.

The incident took place last evening when the girl had gone to relieve herself at a jungle in Incholi area here, a police spokesperson said.
The girl snatched the knife from the accused Raees(23) when he attempted to force himself on her, and attacked his private parts with it.
Villagers arrived at the spot after hearing his cries and admitted him to a hospital, where his condition is stated to be serious.
They said security has been stepped up in the village as a precautionary measure, since the accused and the girl belonged to different communities.

The media who took pleasure in highlighting the Rohtak girls who played victim but turned out to be the conspirators, but seem to have no knowledge of this incident of bravery. As a general trend, it can be observed nowadays that the media chooses to hide incidents when the culprit is from one particular community. Even the so called minority Messiah Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal etc. who said Dalits were under attack when Rohith Vemula died now seem to be missing. We sincerely ask them, WHY THIS HYPOCRISY?

This brings us to another important debate. At present, there are high number of rapes and rape attempts in India. What measures can be taken to prevent rapes in India?

Presently, rape is punishable by fine and imprisonment, and by execution in the rarest of rare cases. Execution for rape was last use on Dhananjoy Chatterjee in 2004 for the rape and murder of 18 year old Hatel Parekh. This raises a serious question, SHOULD THERE BE A MORE SERIOUS PUNISHMENT FOR RAPE? What are your suggestions?

North Korea fires ballistic missile into Japanese waters

North Korea has test-fired a ballistic missile which travelled 1,000km (620 miles) before landing in Japanese waters, the South and Japan say.

The missile was launched off the North's east coast early on Wednesday.
The North is barred from developing nuclear and ballistic missile technology by UN resolution.
But it had vowed a "physical response" to the US and Seoul's plan to deploy an advanced missile defence system in South Korea.
It has carried out repeated launches in recent months.
The US Strategic Command said two missiles had been fired simultaneously on Wednesday and that one exploded immediately after launch.
'Ambition to attack'
Wednesday's missile flight is believed to be the longest yet for a North Korean test.

The launch showed the North's "ambition to attack neighbouring countries", an official at South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. He added that the missile appeared to have been a medium-range Rodong.
The Japanese defence ministry said the missile landed inside its exclusive economic zone (EEZ), the 200-nautical mile of ocean around a country over which it has jurisdiction.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said it posed a grave threat to Japan's security, calling it an "unforgiveable act of violence". He said Tokyo had protested strongly against it.
The US similarly condemned the launch.
"We remain prepared to work to respond to further DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] provocations, as well as to defend ourselves and our allies from any attack or provocation," said State Department spokeswoman Anna Richey-Allen.
In June, after what appeared to be several failed launches, North Korea sent a mid-range missile more than 1,400km into the atmosphere, indicating it had made progress in its abilities to strike US targets in the region, according to analysts.
In July, North Korea fired three ballistic missiles into the sea, saying it was a simulated strike on the South.
Local media reports say South Korean officials believe the North is preparing to conduct a fifth test of a nuclear weapon.
But North Korea is not yet believed to have the ability to mount a nuclear warhead on a missile to make a deliverable weapon.

Burhan Wani successor Sabzar Ahmad Bhat is the Indian Army's next target

Militant commander, Sabzar Ahmad Bhat — who is believed to have replaced Burhan Wani as the Hizbul Mujahideen’s operational chief in Kashmir — remains one of the top-rated militants of the outfit. He had not only featured in the photos and videos that went viral on social networking sites, but his entry into militancy came through the usual route taken by militants to test the loyalties of those who join them. He had snatched a weapon from a member of the armed forces during the unrest that followed the killing of the brother of Burhan Wani in Tral, and was later trained in the forest areas before taking part in a number of militant activities.

Last April, after the forces killed Burhan’s brother, Khalid Muzafar Wani, the people of Tral erupted in protests. At the bus stand that is close to Burhan's home, youths swooped down on armed forces deployed there and Sabzar managed to snatch a rifle. The forests that lie in the vicinity of the Tral area are believed to have been the training ground for the militant. A senior police official said that the Tral area is surrounded by the forests of Gulshanpora, Gusoo and Shikargah where militants get the safe sanctuary and Bhat has received training in these very areas. According to police officials, “it is very unlikely that (Sabzar) would have crossed the border for the weapons training in Pakistan.”

Besides the attacks on the panchs, sarpanchs and security forces, Sabzar is known to have carried out the killings of civilians who were believed to have been the informers of the forces. While Burhan was an 'A++ listed' militant, police officials said, Sabzar was an 'A category' militant. The police have announced that people who can give information about Sabzar will be adequately rewarded.

Local residents in the South Kashmir areas of Tral said that it has been due to the excesses by the forces that the youths like Burhan and Sabzar have joined the militancy. However, security officials said that it has been due to Sabzar’s close proximity with Burhan that led to him joining the militancy. Sabzar is from the Ruthsuna area, which is only five kilometres from the home of Burhan.

“He knew Burhan and was his close associate, but he was asked to prove his loyalty,” said a senior security official. He also added that the Burhan was responsible for the “kidnapping’’ of civilian in Awantipora area who was later killed as the “militants believed that he was an informer for the security forces”.

Superintendent of police, Awantipora, Shridhar Patil, said that the Sabzar had many cases pending against him. “The militant is involved many cases and remains one of the most wanted militants for us,” he said.

Officials said that Sabzar is among the six militants from Tral who are currently active. He has reportedly featured in a rally at Kareemabad area of Pulwama and has developed an over ground workers (OGWs) network. “The militant has managed the movement due to the support for the militancy now in South Kashmir areas. It is due to the very good OGW network that militants like Sabzar have managed to create a wide support base for themselves,” said a senior police official.

Sabzar was earlier found wearing battle fatigues and carrying an AK-47 rifle in a forest in a group photo of the militants that went viral.

“Out of the 11 militants who featured in the photo that went viral on social networking sites, only five including Sabzar are active now,” added a security official. In south Kashmir, banners carrying the images of Burhan and Sabzar line up along the roads and near the graveyards in which militants have been buried. In Kareembad, at the militant graveyard, Sabzar, who sports long hair and beard, features in a forest alongside Burhan in a photograph.
