Tata JLR Q5 SUV 2018 With All you want to know

Since Tata bought JLR, it was clear that Tata would use JLR’s expertise to develop their future models. The Q501 (and possibly Q502) will be the first of those models. Tata has exported a few prototypes of the same to the US for testing purposes, according to a report by Team BHP.
What is it?
The Q501, as it is internally known, is a premium SUV that will sit above the soon the be launched Hexa crossover. The Q501 will share its structural components with the Discovery Sport but will not look anything like its Land Rover cousin. The Q501 and Q502 will have a 5 and 7 seat option, hence the different model codes.

Positioning?
Since the Q501 is a premium SUV, it will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. This is the first time Tata is attempting to come into the premium SUV segment and take on the established names. They certainly have a tough job at hand.
Power-train?
The Q501 will most likely use the 2.0 multijet engine from Fiat which will develop around 170 Bhp. It will come with both an automatic and a manual transmission option. Both 2wd and 4wd versions are expected. Since this is the same engine that will be used by Jeep’s new SUV, Fiat may decide to make the engine in India helping Tata keep costs down. This will also help Tata go around the 2,000 cc ban in Delhi NCR.
Launch expectation?
2018
Autocar India reported that the new SUVs will be unveiled in 2018, which means it will most likely be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Since Tata is doing a good job of packing their smaller cars with loads of features, we expect the same with these premium SUVs as well.
